Shannon Strong

Shannon Strong grew up in a suburb of eastern Pennsylvania called Lansdale and lived in the same house until she was eighteen. Presently, Shannon teaches Integrated Science to Freshmen and Advanced Biology to Sophomores for CPA. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of New Hampshire in Biology, a master’s degree in environmental education from Lesley University in Cambridge, Mass. and a teaching credential from San Francisco State University. She has been at Berkeley High School for three years. Prior to that, she taught in San Francisco for five years.

Before teaching, Shannon worked at several non-profit organizations in the Bay Area as an outdoor educator where she led students on field trips about local ecology and environmental issues. All through college at the University of New Hampshire, she played Division I soccer. She continues to play indoor and outdoor soccer for recreation.

Shannon’s goal this year is to introduce her students to a hand’s on project based curriculum so that science is intimately coupled to each student’s physical life experiences.
