Caren Ohlson, CPA Counselor


Ms. Ohlson has worked with students in the Berkeley Schools for three years. She has a Master’s Degree in Counseling with an emphasis on School Counseling and individual/family therapy. She has worked with elementary, middle and high school students, and enjoys helping CP Academy students explore who they are and who they want to become.

Counseling resources for CP Academy students include:

• 9th grade groups to help students create a 5 year plan to achieve academic and personal goals.
• Conflict mediation
• Opportunities to participate in counseling/support groups around various issues
• Confidential counseling in areas of college, career and personal development
• Resources for college admissions

Resources for CP Academy families include:

• Advice and support navigating Berkeley High School
• Referrals to academic, job, and personal resources both in and outside of BHS
• General support with any questions or concerns you may have about how best to support your student

In addition to her work in CP Academy, Ms. Ohlson is also a Teaching Assistant with the UNTraining (UNTraining White Liberal Racism), a program that provides resources and tools for white people who are motivated to investigate how they contribute to maintaining a white-dominated world and how they can work to create authentic change. She has also completed one year of Somatics & Trauma training with Staci Haines & Denise Benson.
